Kota reliquary sculpture / Mahongwe Gabon/Congo. There are several subgroups in the area of northeastern Gabon bordering Congo, all of which use relics, similar to each other. The figures are of human form reduced to its most basic elements, wood covered with copper wire and shining brass and copper plates. These figures are placed on a wickerwork basket containing human remains (Bwete). These baskets often have two figures on top of the basket, one bigger and one smaller. H. 52 cm.
